Trivia Answers:
1)The PGA (Professional
Golfer's Association) of , a
not-for-profit organization that promotes the game of golf, was
founded on April 10, 1916. With more than 28,000 members,
the PGA bills itself as the "largest working sports organization
in the world". The PGA conducts four premier golf events: the
PGA Championship, the Senior PGA Championship, the Ryder Cup,
and the PGA Grand Slam of Golf.
2)Gene
Sarazen invented the modern sand wedge in 1930. As the
name implies, this club is used when playing a ball from a sand
trap. The heaviest of all golf clubs, it is designed to force
its way through sand particles. Sarazen won 39 PGA Tournaments
during his career. He was inducted into the World Golf Hall of
Fame in 1974. |

News
from our Head Pro...Greg Milligan |
Dear Men’s Club Members,
We just concluded the Club Championship,
Congratulations to all the winners. This is our
premier event for our scratch players. The
winner again this year was Don O’Connor with a
two day gross score of 146. Also, this is the
2nd year we had a senior gross division and the
winner is Bob Hallock .
Its that
time of year again for aerating of the greens
and over seeding of the fairways. We will be
aerating the greens on October 9th and 10th
and over seeding the whole month of October. The
over seeding will not adversely affect the
playability of the golf course.
We will be overseeding one or two holes per day
and for that one day we will be playing winter
rules on those holes.
Thanks for all your support

Hey
Swing Doc
|
Golf's a hard game to figure. One
day you'll go out and slice the ball, shank the
ball, hit into all the bunkers and miss every
green. And then, the very next day you'll go
out and for no apparent reason play worse.
Amazing, isn't it? The only thing consistent
about most players' games is their
inconsistency. Have you ever wondered why this
happens? In the articles that follow you'll
learn exactly how to improve your game. Keep an
open mind and ask yourself one simple question,
why do you play golf?
P.S. Don't forget to follow the
six steps to proper range practice:
-
STRETCH
-
PUTT
-
CHIP
-
PITCH
-
BUNKER
-
FULL SWING
Play well, and have fun on the journey.

The Golfing God
By Mark Worden
I took four lessons from a pro,
to straighten out my
swing
and
tempoed downward
fast to slow,
to make my driver
zing!
I worked for months and saw no
change,
but practiced when I
could.
each week I spent
time at the range,
a’pounding on my wood.

How To Speed Up Your Pace of Play on the Golf
Course |
|
A good pace of play is an important element in
having a good experience at the golf course.
It's often a combination of little things not
done that wind up contributing to slow play and
on-course traffic jams. Here are some tips for
making sure your pace of play is as brisk as it
should be. Remember: pace of play isn't about
rushing your shots, it's about being ready to
take your shot when it's your turn, and behaving
efficiently on the course.

Rules from Paul Gaff |
Review of Relief Rules
I have been asked to clarify rules of relief as
it relates to certain situations at S
an Luis Rey Downs.
1.
Hole No. 9 – Ball coming to rest
abutting or in the immediate vicinity of the
railroad tie barrier, cart turnaround on hole
No. 9
Rule 24-2 Interference
by immovable obstruction
Without penalty a
player may take relief of swing or stance plus
one club length no closer the hole. If after
relief has been taken, the player determines
that the flight of the ball may impact the
railroad tie barrier, does the player get
further relief? Answer: No, the ball
must be played from the initially determined
point of relief.
